| Clamp-on Fluid Composition |
 |
| Dispersion Stability |
| | Applied Sonics supplies both laboratory and on-line instruments to
characterize fluids. Applications range from the physical stability of
dispersions to component concentrations in product pipelines. These
instruments are used in many industries including:
Chemical
 | Monitor the settling rate of suspensions. |
 | Measure solids to determine concentration
or extent of reaction. |
 | Check creaming and sedimentation in agri-chemical emulsions. |
 | Control dilution. |
Petroleum
 |
Determine the effectiveness of oil-water emulsion
breaking chemicals. |
 |
Identify locations of separation process upsets and
de-bottleneck. |
 |
Test surfactants and drilling mud. |
Minerals/Fuels
 |
Test flocculants and monitor product stability. |
 |
Monitor slurry formations to ensure stability of
delivered fuel. |
Food & Pharmaceutical
 |
Measure stability of new formulations for emulsions
and dispersions. |
 |
Test for quality and shelf life. |

Sonic Concentration Analyzer
for laboratory use
The
Sonic
Concentration Analyzer speeds stability testing of suspensions and dispersions.
The non-destructive test quickly determines settling in a sample,
eliminating visual/manual inspection. It
rapidly
tests the concentration of non-settling materials, replacing time-consuming
analyses. The instrument scans individual samples with no contact and no sample
preparation. The computer-based
system takes ultrasonic measurements, then graphs the concentration profile.
Changes in the profile indicate sample stability for quality assurance or shelf-life measurement.
- Process Composition Monitor
for on-line process applications
-
-
- The Process Composition Monitor is a sensitive,
non-intrusive monitor of fluid composition. Sonic technology and
precision electronics are combined in a clamp-on device that can
monitor very small
changes in the concentration of components in a liquid mixture or a
solids-containing suspension. The
output of the PCM-100 is the percent concentration, calibrated for the
process being measured.

- Custom
Ultrasonic Systems
Applied Sonics has developed a number of custom measurement systems that extend our sonic techniques for unique applications. For example,
we recently developed custom ultrasonic sensors to measure
slurry concentration inside
mixing vessels. We can provide custom solutions for a wide variety of
fluids characterization needs.
