SEDISONIC™ -
Suspension Stability and Concentration Analyser

SSCA Scanner with plastic sample container

The SEDISONIC™ is an ultrasonic instrument designed to quantify the stability of suspensions and the concentration of emulsions and liquid mixtures. The instrument scans a pair of ultrasonic sensors along the outside of a sample container, taking time-of-flight (TOF) measurements at discrete vertical increments. TOF is the time required for the ultrasonic signal to travel between the sensors, passing through the sample under test. By comparing the measured TOF to a TOF vs. concentration calibration curve, the SEDISONIC™ generates a graph of the concentration profile of the sample. After the TOF measurements are complete, the sample container can be removed from the water bath, stored, and re-tested over a long period of time. The settling rate or stability of the sample can be measured quickly and precisely. The SEDISONIC™ can also be used, without scanning, as a quick and non-destructive measure of component concentration in non-settling samples.
