ScaWin
- Software for the Sonic Concentration Analyzer
ScaWin
is the software program for controlling the Sonic Concentration
Analyzer (SCA) instrument manufactured by Applied Sonics. ScaWin works
with the ultrasonic electronics and sample scanner to automate data collection
and sample analysis using the SCA instrument.
 |
The
ScaWin software introduces a new way of
looking at the sample scan data that helps the user understand the stability
and concentration information that is being measured. One of the main uses of
the SCA is to measure stability by comparing scans of dispersions taken after
different settling periods. Using the earlier SCA software, the users had to
select each scan to be compared, every time the sample data was to be viewed.
Now, with the ScaWin software, the scan files are collected into one
"sample file" and the scan data can be easily viewed whenever desired.
An example of five scan files collected into the "emulsion.sam" sample file is
show in the ScaWin screen image below. New
scan files can be acquired and added to the sample file with just a few mouse
clicks. These new capabilities speed the interpretation and presentation of
the scan data. |

 |
The ScaWin software greatly improves
the flexibility of the SCA instrument. New menu items can now be used to
control the sample scanning process. Sample graphs are easily and quickly
sent to any printer, rather than just the few printers compatible
with the original software. In addition, scan data for dispersion samples can
now be normalized to an initial scan. This corrects the stability curves for
non-uniformity in the sample container. |
